09 Dec Visitors from the U.K.
Just over a year since HRH The Prince of Wales toured Australia and visited a number of our projects, The Prince’s Charities Australia recently hosted two more guests from the U.K. in support of expanding the engagement and awareness of the organisation.
Known for ‘connecting the unconnected’, Dame Julia Cleverdon DCVO CBE has worked with The Prince of Wales for the past 30 years, first as Chief Executive of Business in the Community then as Special Advisor to H.R.H on His charity portfolio.
Her recent visit marked her fourth visit to Australia in just three years in support of P.C.A, during which she has participated in over 100 engagements across four states.
“I am proud to see what The Prince’s Charities Australia has been able to achieve. To think the organisation was only established in 2013 with a blank sheet of paper and to where it is now, having an established a diverse portfolio of charitable projects right across Australia, is tremendously exciting.” said Dame Julia.
“It is through the development of strong partnerships with other great Australian organisations in support of the charitable endeavours of The Prince of Wales in Australia that the organisation has been able to deliver so much in such a small period of time.”
Late November also marked the first-time Dominic Richards, Chief Executive, Architekton visited Australia after joining the P.C.A. Board in September this year. Dominic has been working on The Prince’s Terrace’s Adelaide project since 2013 with The Prince’s Foundation for Building Community and brings strong expertise on the Built Environment to the P.C.A Board.
Dominic and Janine Kirk AM, Chief Executive, toured The Prince’s Terrace Adelaide construction on 2 December with Renewal SA, Defence Housing Australia and recently appointed local builder Palumbo Pty Ltd.
‘It was tremendously exciting to visit the construction site, seeing first-hand the progress of the build being led by our local partners’ said Dominic
‘The Prince’s Terrace Adelaide is not only an exemplar of sustainable building techniques, but a great design in a walkable, mixed-use community and I am looking forward to reporting back our UK based colleagues on the development’
Dominic has been a successful property developer for over 20 years, during which time he has gained a deep understanding of the impact of the built environment on the quality of life of those living and working within it. During his time as Vice Chairman and Director of The Prince’s Foundation for Building Community, he reorganised and renewed its charitable mission. He is now Founder and Chief Executive of Architekton and passionately committed to bringing our vision of sustainable development into reality.
The Prince’s Charities Australia would like to thank both Dame Julia and Dominic for their time and energy and looks forward to welcoming them back to Australia again in 2017. We would also like to thank the organisations and individuals we were able to meet with and host events over this period.
