13 Dec Message from Chief Executive, Janine Kirk AM
Welcome to our final newsletter for 2016.
I would like to thank-you for your engagement and interest in The Prince’s Charities Australia throughout 2016.
We have continued to grow the portfolio of activities and projects which now spread to communities from Yarloop to Bundaberg and from Launceston up to Mt Isa. This would not be possible without the generous contribution and support of our P.C.A. Patrons, corporate partners, and outstanding charity-partners. I thank you one and all for your support, encouragement and engagement.
Thanks also to Chairman Margaret Jackson AC, our Trustees and my colleagues Aaron and Renata for their support and assistance this year.
I am pleased release our ‘2016 Year in Review’ where we reflect on the year of growth and impact since His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales visited our shores in November 2015. You can download the 2016 Year in Review document by clicking here.
It has been an exciting time in the P.C.A. office since our last e-newsletter.
In September, we greeted our Encounters Indigenous Cultural Workers Scholarship recipients to the National Museum Australia. This began their 3-month journey which took them from Canberra to London. The six-recipients included cultural heritage workers, artists, curators, conservators and cultural educators from across Australia. I was fortunate enough to meet with the six-recipients throughout the program including during their time in the U.K.
October saw us working with The Prince’s Foundation for Building Community and the N.S.W Department of Planning and Environment to deliver a B.I.M.B.Y. (Beauty-In-My-Back-Yard) community consultation symposium and workshop in Sydney. Our work with Defence Housing Australia on the development of The Prince’s Terrace’s Adelaide also raced ahead with the pouring of the foundation slab in Bowden, Adelaide.
In November and December we hosted visits from Dame Julia Cleverdon DCVO CBE and London-based P.C.A. Trustee Dominic Richards helping to progress the engagement of P.C.A. in supporting Australian communities. Highlights of their visits include events with His Excellency General The Honourable David Hurley AC DSC (Ret’d); Her Excellency The Honourable Linda Dessau AM and P.C.A’s End of Year Partners and Supporters Celebration Luncheon.
As 2016 draws to a close, and 2017 looms on the horizon, we reflect on this outstanding year, while also laying the groundwork for some exciting new projects I look forward to sharing with you next year.
Enjoy a safe and restful festive season with your family, friends and community.
